I thought it would be fun to share the story of my greatest resource, my assistant Erin.  I met Erin at a lady’s bible study group at our church.  I had mentioned to a friend that I was missing my friendships from Ohio and she suggested that I give the group a try.  So, that’s where we met along with several of my other closest friends here in NC.  I noticed right away that Erin had a great sense of humor and we got along really well.

As our friendship grew, I realized that we had a lot in common, mainly the desire to help others.  I happened to be at her house one time and she showed me how she had organized her son’s room.  Of course, she did a great job and that is when I realized that she had a knack for organizing too.

Not long after that I had a client that needed assistance with packing up her home to move.  It was a bit of a time crunch and the job would take me two days by myself (but I only had one available).  With an assistant, I knew we could get the job done for the client.  I reached out to Erin and asked her if she would like to help.  Thankfully, she said yes and that was the start of it!  When we were finished that day, I asked if she would be interested in helping with other jobs as well and she thought it would be a good fit for her as well!   It wasn’t long after that that I sent her on a solo job to start helping a client settle into their new apartment.  I knew they would be in good hands with Erin.  I had all the confidence that she would take good care of them by herself until we could work together there.

Working with Erin has been such a pleasure.  She is really good with the clients and at organizing the fine details.  It is so nice to be able to task her with that while I am working on another aspect of the job.  We also bounce ideas off of each other and respect each other’s opinions.  We are often surprised by how quickly time flies by when we are on a job.  Don’t get us wrong, some are strenuous and challenging but working with her makes it all much more fun. If you were to shadow us, you would see that we like to have a good time.  There are jokes being shared, songs being sung and a common comradery in getting the job done.  Often times, the clients get to be part of this goofiness too!

Having her as part of my team allows us to help so many more clients.  Most of the time, we are working together on jobs.  There are occasions that we will work separately but that is typically when one of us is out of town or not available and someone needs assistance.  It is so nice to know that I can send her on a job and have her representing the company.

People have asked if I plan on growing the business more in the future but as of right now, I’m content with keeping it small with just the two of us.  I know that she shares my same values and will provide consistent customer service with the clients.  I am blessed!
